Project 2
It is my belief that the relationship we form and foster throughout our individual lives ultimately defines us, determining our character and directing our future. Throughout these relationships, we as individuals end up collecting memories if they were belongings, leaving us with emotional belongings. While some of these memories can be monumental moments that defined the relationship, mundane moments can also consume us, adding up to the significance. With the method “Directorial Mode” in mind, I will be creating up stage environments to create scenes of individual insight and experience on interpersonal relationships from different of viewpoints of fictional characters. These ideas correspond to my conceptual idea for the semester, the magic of a “personal story”. The photographs I will take will consist of me performing as two different characters. I will then photoshop the two images of the two different individuals together, creating a narrative. I aim to leave my audience wondering more about the the relationship between the two individuals presented, ultimately hoping they will be able to find a part of themselves placed within the scene. I will not be including text within my objects for project two, but using them as an additional work. The text that will be presented with each string of images will be describing the phase of the relationship. The text will be written in stream of consciousness. These will be arbitrary, honest insights on the relationship. When preparing I plan to stage myself in a way they will direct the viewer’s eye to travel throughout my frame. I also plan to use light intentionally to create high contrast along with color to give my viewers emotion of the role the character holds. Through the everyday in my photography, composition of models, and usage of light and color, I will achieve emotional appeals for my viewer emerge themselves into an individual's personal world.
